My Philosophy
"Most men and half of all women
don't know what they look like from the neck down."
This is the conclusion that Allan and Barbara Pease reached after conducting an experiment in a hotel lobby that they described in their book "The Definitive Book of Body Language”.

Do YOU know what you look like from the neck down? Are you aware of your posture, the body language you use, your facial expressions and the words you say during your interactions?

We often wake up in the morning and, just like we were under a spell, we grab the same old clothes from our wardrobes, throw them on and move on focusing on the things we want to change and improve about our existence. We're rarely aware of the effects of the same old clothes on our state of mind, level of self-confidence, and how others perceive us. Then we may even wonder why the same pattern repeats itself and we feel our efforts seem to take us nowhere.
Mindfully developing an authentic personal style brings significant improvements in all areas of our lives: personal, professional and social. Now, tell me, are you wearing the same style of clothes as you did in your 20s? I really hope you aren't! If you are a passionate lifelong learner like me, you know life is much more fulfilling when you keep growing as a person, not just professionally speaking. Those internal changes also need to be translated and expressed externally. Your image needs to keep pace with your personal growth.
Pivotal experiences like my parents' death, my graduation and moving to Italy have irreversibly changed me as a person and my lifestyle. I felt completely lost in my 20s. Surrounded by people with a different culture and expectations, in a completely different climate, I felt that no matter what I did, my image and style were inappropriate and I constantly felt inadequate, uneasy and distressed. The fact that everybody seemed to like and accept me just the way I was and dressed when I used to live in Romania made it worse. I felt that how I used to dress was the only way and it didn't work in the new environment. I felt helpless. I was stuck. But just like Picasso once said,
“There is only one way to see things
until someone shows us how to look at them with different eyes.”
I've always had a passion for personal development and strongly believed in people's potential. It was one of the main reasons I chose Human Resources Management as my master's degree program and then took a job in Human Resources in a corporation. More than 10 years and various working experiences later, my passion still consists of helping people experience self-love, achieve their goals, and live their best lives.
However, in my late 20s, I became obsessed with personal development, and I spent most of my time reading, studying, and keeping up with anything fashion and style. I understood that my way was not the only possible way and I started to change it one step at a time. What I wanted and finally managed to do wasn't adapt myself and my way of dressing to the new lifestyle, culture and climate, but to find a means to express who I was in a way that was more effective in this new environment. A few years and training programs later, I can tell you it was a long process and, honestly, it's still ongoing. But the most important thing of all was that first step. Be it small or big, change always begins with a small step. Then, more steps follow one after the other until you decide that you found the solution you were looking for.
One of the most important things I've learned in all those years is that image is a powerful tool that can make a difference in so many ways. My image and style will keep changing as long as I keep changing and I hope that will be the case for as long as I live because people who don't change never change anything and remain stuck right where they are.
Actually, I wish you the same. I wish you to allow yourself to experience as many things as possible in this beautiful world and, even if some periods might feel more difficult than others, to fully enjoy the entire journey and eagerly learn all the lessons that your experiences teach you! And I encourage you to allow your image and style to grow, change and flow at the same pace as you.

It's not always easy and we all need support every now and then. Sometimes, an image specialist is needed and sometimes we're on our own. But we don't have to be experts to enhance our image and to make sure it's in alignment with our personality and lifestyle. I'm here to be myself, not to imitate a public figure with perfectly styled outfits.
"Of all the roads she travelled,
the journey back to herself was the most magnificent."
After several years of personal and professional struggles, this quote acquired a truly special significance to me when I realised I had genuinely started to love myself for whom I really was. I was able to transform my world. It was a long process but I believe we truly need to go at our own pace. We deserve all the time we need to get to know ourselves at the deepest level. Nonetheless, anyone could use some tools to help them speed up that process or at least make it more enjoyable and structured.
I might not have found a universal solution to all the problems but I have developed an efficient process plan that took me from confused and overwhelmed to happy and mindful. I absolutely wanted to share it with more people. After a couple of years of flirting with blogging and taking various trainings, I felt I could offer real help through my signature coaching style and the digital platform that shared the same name: The Style Upgrade. Structured like a personal style diary, it included different types of materials, from short videos to checklists and worksheets designed to guide people through the process of finding what felt good in terms of personal style.
In order to make the process more manageable and the materials also available offline, I decided to turn it into a book : “Journey to a Mindful Style”. Enriched with life coaching strategies and tried and tested solutions to problems I experienced in the past, this e-book presents the steps I took along my journey from a confused beauty and style marketing victim unaware of the actual state to a mindful person able to tell, choose and style what works in her specific situation.
Explore today, style for life!
Give yourself the chance to meet yourself where you are right now. Assess your current situation by means of worksheets. Identify the steps you need to take to reach your style goals utilizing checklists and cheatsheets. Make it all work by keeping an eye on the overall picture employing the wheel of personal style.

Here's to a fascinating personal style journey that will make you love yourself more than ever! It’s never just about appearance even though it often starts there – it’s more about the decision to live mindfully.

With love and gratitude,
