Wellness, skincare and style: why universal advice doesn't work for every body

When the list of “shoulds” becomes endless

We live in an age where every expert — on physical health, mental health, nutrition, skincare, productivity — seems to have advice to add to our already long list of things to do.

An apple a day.

At least half an hour of exercise every day.

Drink two litres of water.

A seven, ten, fifteen-step skincare routine.

Meditate every morning.

Avoid gluten.

Keep a journal.

Sleep eight hours.

And I could go on and on.

There is nothing wrong with these suggestions: many are useful, some are valuable, others can really change your life. But the point is another: not everything is right for everyone.

The myth of the universal rule

Every time we read a new piece of advice, we risk interpreting it as an absolute truth. As if it were a magic formula that, applied correctly, should work for everyone.

But the reality is much more complex — and much more human.

Each of us has a different body, a different history, a different metabolism, a different background.

Our experiences, our needs, our sensitivities make us gravitate towards different practices.

And what is a panacea for one person may be useless or even counterproductive for another.

A simple example: skincare

In recent years, skincare has become almost an Olympic discipline. Layering, acids, serums, boosters, essences, retinol, niacinamide, double cleansing, triple moisturising.

Yet, in my case — with sensitive, reactive skin prone to rosacea — many of these trends do not work at all. On the contrary: the more layers I add, the heavier and more irritated my skin becomes.

Not because the products are “wrong”, but because they are not suitable for me.

And this applies to everything: diet, exercise, daily routines, even personal style.

As with style, no rule is truly universal

I see this every day in my work.

Two people may fall into the same “category” of silhouette, yet have completely different proportions, volumes, lines and characteristics.

Applying a rigid rule — “this suits you, this doesn't” — is not only limiting, but often incorrect.

Style works when it respects the real body, not a theoretical model.

When it enhances what is there, not what “should be there”.

When it accompanies, not imposes.

The same applies to self-care

The truth is that there is no single right path.

There is your path.

And to find it, you need to listen, be curious and experiment.

You need the freedom to try, observe, adjust and let go of what doesn't work — without feeling guilty.

My approach: a guide, not a directive

Everything I propose in my programmes, courses and activities stems from this awareness.

I do not offer rigid rules.

I do not offer universal formulas.

I do not offer “musts”.

I offer tools.

I offer possibilities.

I offer a frame of reference that helps you understand what works for you, not for “everyone”.

My courses are designed as guides, not as instructions to be followed to the letter.

They are an invitation to explore, not to strive for perfection.

They are a space where you can honour your uniqueness — in your body, your style, your life.

And if you want more in-depth support

This philosophy takes shape in everything I do, in different but always consistent ways.

- In The Style Shift programme, a premium individual journey dedicated to authentic personal style.

Here we work together in an intimate and focused way, with expert advice that respects your body, your life, your sensibility and your unique way of expressing yourself. There are no hard and fast rules: there is a process that helps you discover what really enhances your beauty.

- In activities and conversations dedicated to intuitive lifestyle, where we explore topics such as food, rest, body image, health, personal care and even the way we dress every day.

These are spaces where you learn to listen to your body and choose what truly supports you, without pressure or perfectionism.

- In the Journey to a Mindful Style programme, which can be experienced either individually or in a group.

Here, shared ideas, insights and experiences become part of the process: a safe and welcoming environment where each person's uniqueness is not only respected but becomes a strength to be explored and nurtured.

Whether it's choosing an outfit, a face cream or a new daily habit, the point is not to follow yet another “should”.

The point is to return to your body, your experience, your truth.

Because in the end, the most important thing is this: your body deserves respect, attention and freedom. Always.
